Tucked under the live oaks at Palmetto Walk Shopping Village, this family-owned shop has been an island tradition since 1978. It's known as one of the most unique shops in the Southeast, specializing in hand-picked English and French country antiques, along with traditional and coastal home décor and gifts.
Meet the Owner
Wilson Tennille, Jr. is the second-generation owner of The Plantation Shop. His mother, Bonnie, first opened the doors as a home accessories and gift shop, and it has since grown into a destination for antique lovers and home décor fans alike.
"The Plantation Shop is considered to be an island tradition," Wilson says. "Customers tell us the first place they visit when they come to Amelia Island is the Plantation Shop."
A Trip Across the Pond
Wilson travels to England six to eight times a year to hand-pick every antique. He works closely with longtime English dealers and walks international antique fairs, choosing each piece for its quality, age, and those wonderful details that make you stop and look twice.
Every piece is refinished to present itself just as it was originally intended. For Wilson, it's all about relationships, a passion for antiques, and the thrill of the hunt.
Never the Same Shop Twice
With six to seven new antique shipments each year and fresh home décor and gifts arriving weekly, the shop takes on a new look with every delivery. Wilson and his longtime staff design and style the space, so each visit feels a little different.
